SIET Kerala's Initiatives during Covid Period

Immediately after the announcement of complete Lockdown, State institute of Educational Technology (SIET), analyzed the situation and formulated strategies to continue academic activities with the help of technology.

• 1.Immediately after the announcement of complete Lockdown, State institute of Educational Technology (SIET), analyzed the situation and formulated strategies to continue academic activities with the help of technology. At that time Std X and XII^th board examinations were not completed and the terminal evaluation processing for the rest of the standards were to be started. In these circumstances SIET prepared video class immediately and thereafter sought the support of Dooradarshan National Broadcaster to telecast the same. Two Slots were allotted for high school classes and another for higher secondary section. Live shows on Dooradarshan channel were also conducted to facilitate the students to interact directly with the teachers. The telecast started on 17^th April 2020 and still continuing on daily basis.
• 2.SIET started a new U-tube channel “Poottatha Padasala” (School unclosed), in which the video lessons were uploaded and later and the same merged with SIET’s flagship U – Tube channel.
• 3.By June 2020, SIET Kerala in association with SCERT, started developing video class rooms for telecasting through victers, the state owned education channel. Till September 2020, SIET developed 333 video classes.
• 4.SIET in association with Samagra Siksha, developed 150 video classes for higher secondary- rare subjects like psychology, Philosophy, Journalism, Gandhian Studies, Urdu, Sanskrit, Communicative English etc. The subjects are being developed through whatsap groups of the students and teachers and the same is being telecast on Dooradarshan channel.
